At Freetown Grammar School, Fourah Bay College and Church Missionary College, Islington. 1885, Degree of M.A. conferred by University of Durham. 1859, Teacher in Freetown Grammar School; 1860, Catechist at Waterloo. 1863, March 15, deacon, and 1866, ordained a priest by Bishop of Sierra Leone. 1864, Tutor at Fourah Bay College, and Secretary of Native Church Association. 1869, Missionary at Rio Pongas. 1869, transferred to the Native Pastorate at Regent's Town, and Trinity Church, Freetown. 1885, visited England, to interest friends in the Native Church in the colony. 1886, appointed Government Chaplain at Accra, on the Gold Coast.
